JULY 29, 2021

EVENT: Join us for a virtual pitch competition featuring the latest innovation in advanced textile fabric and fiber technologies this Thursday at 10 a.m. EDT. The two-part event will feature nine early-startup finalists and a keynote address from Sasha Stolyarov, CEO of Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA).

NSIN NEWS AND EVENTS

NEWS:  In 2019 a team of NSIN Hacking for Defense (H4D) program alumni founded Learn to Win, a mobile platform that uses content creation software and data analytics to deliver training materials for instructors in the athletic, enterprise, and defense fields. Discover all the ways Learn to Win is revolutionizing training at high-performance organizations.

MEDIA: An X-Force fellow at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is working with a team from Ellsworth Air Force Base to innovate a new technology called cold spray. Cold spray increases the lifespan of aircrafts and weapon systems while decreasing repair costs for the U.S. Air Force. Students and service members have been collaborating for 14 years on the research and development of this technology and are now testing its ability to repair aircraft.

AUG. 5, 2021

EVENT: Robert Cardillo, United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Board Chair, will deliver the keynote address followed by hackathon finalists who will present their event challenge solutions.

EVENT: Attention Omaha Innovators -  Join us at the Defense Entrepreneurial Symposium (DES) to see defense-related technology innovation from regional startups and hear from state business development leaders.

NEW AUG. 6, 2021

(DoD ORGANIZATIONS ONLY)

EVENT: Calling all DoD organizations seeking to hire Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) talent. You are invited to participate in the 2021 NSIN National Service Hirethon. Sign up to connect with participants and alumni from several NSIN programs who have prior experience with DoD projects, an interest in defense innovation, and a desire to serve their country in meaningful work. 

DEFENSE INNOVATION NEWS AND EVENTS

NEWS: The U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Space Force launched the Air Force and Space Force Tech Connect website to make it easier for innovators to connect with military science and technology experts.

SEPT. 14 - 17, 2021


EVENT: NavalX is hosting an Agility Summit at its headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia for Navy and Marine Corp innovators to connect and share best practices. Exhibitor applications are due Aug. 5.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES 

NASA is partnering with Starburst, an aerospace accelerator, for the 2021 Entrepreneurs Challenge focusing on SmallSat science technologies, metamaterials-based sensors, and biomarker detection. Companies that win both rounds of the challenge can receive up to $90,000 to advance their concepts. Sign up for the Ask Me Anything event on July 28 to learn more. Initial white paper submissions are due Aug. 6.
401 Tech Bridge and the NavalX Northeast Tech Bridge are seeking proposals for a modular, expeditionary security Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) that is reusable and provides low-cost maintenance. Selected proposals will receive $50,000, and may have the opportunity for continued work for prototype development under a follow-on Other Transactions prototype, up to $1 million. The deadline to apply is Sept. 13.
